Why is the sky blue?

The sky is blue because of how Earth's atmosphere scatters sunlight. Sunlight is made of different colors. When it enters the atmosphere, the blue light is scattered in all directions because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This scattered blue light is what we see when we look up at the sky.
