Home Therapy is centered around a retired emeritus professor, Henry, played by Chukwuka, who is going through a rough divorce with his wife. Through Henry, we can explore other characters, as each character takes us on a journey of self-discovery.

Joining Chukwuka (Castle and Castle) in this life drama are Jude Orhorha (Half of a Yellow Sun), Chioma Okafor (Aki and Pawpaw), and fast-rising stars Joseph Chuks (Madam Koi Koi) and Prince Buchi Onigwe. While release details have not been announced, we are keeping our fingers crossed for a 2024 release. It is expected to head to festivals before an eventual release. 

# My Big Fairytale Naija Wedding

We do not know a lot about this story but it is apparently a dramedy trilogy written by Xavier Ighorodje and Donald Tombia. It is produced by Giant Creative Studios (behind Shanty Town), directed by Dimeji Ajibola and stars Ini Edo as Mojisola and Ramsey Nouah. Filming started on the film in July 2022 and has gone quiet during its post production stage.

# Omoge Suzzy

Omoge Suzzy is “a beautiful comedy story” reuniting Director Biodun Stephen (Breaded Life) with Bimbo Ademoye, who plays the titular Suzzy. Ademoye describes it as “nothing short of humour”. Scripted by Xavier Ighorodje for Giant Creative Studios, Nollywood is no stranger to this genre and viewers can be ready for another addition to the collection. Other stars include Bolanle Ninalowo (Far From Home), Debo Macaroni (Ayinla), Uzor Arukwe (The Blood Covenant) and Toyin Abraham (Prophetess). It has been acquired by a streaming platform, and more details should be released soon.

# One Too Many

Directed by Kayode Kasum, the story follows Adesuwa (Dakore Egbuson-Akande) trying to save her son, Otas (Chimezie Imo) from ‘one too many’ injustices in the corrupt justice system. The cast also includes Omowunmi Dada as Ehi, Jide Kosoko, Tope Tedela, Kelechi Udegbe and Funsho Adeolu. It is produced by Atinuke Akande and Joy Grant Ekong for Hope Pictures. It screened at AFRIFF in November 2022. 

# Suspicion

Written, produced and directed by Tosin Igho, the thriller will take on the origin story of the lead in his 2008 short film The Suspicious Guy. Suspicion will explore the lives of victims of ritual practices and promises to be an action-packed movie. It stars Stan Nze as Voke, Uzor Arukwe as Rogba, Omowunmi Dada as Chisom and Kalu Ikeawgwu as Mr. Tony. 

# Tarella

Set in the mythical Kingdom of Akkaya, Prince Nosa and Tarella, played by Okawa Shaznay and Timini Egbuson, must overcome numerous obstacles in their quest for Happy Ever After in Lolo Eremie and Kayode Kasum’s Tarella. We’ve all seen countless iterations of the Cinderella story and we are excited to see how the African Cinderella Story will do with this trope. Tarella was screened at AFRIFF in 2023. 

# The Naija Job

The Naija Job is an adventure heist movie directed by Femi Ogunsanwo and written by Dare Olaitan. Exploring the heist, action & crime genres set against the backdrop of big city politics, the film stars Baaj Adebule, Joselyn Dumas, Antar Laniyan, Ade Laoye, Omowunmi Dada, Daniel K. Daniel, Teniola Aladese, Frank Donga, Nonso Odogwu and Bimbo Manuel. The Naija Job (a working title) is executive produced by Adedayo Amzat, Tunde Leye and Femi D. Ogunsanwo. A release can be expected this year.

# That Other Side

Uyi (Baaj Adebule), a ‘reformed’ hustler desperate to raise an amount of money, returns to his hometown, Benin City and finds himself trapped in a warehouse with his estranged best friend, a corpse, his pistol-wielding girlfriend, a witch doctor and a bag of money. Lota Chukwu also stars as Jazz (Jasmine Idehen). It is directed by Victor Sanchez Aghahowa. That Other Side screened at AFRIFF 2021.

With daring costumes and a directorial debut from Kemi Adetiba’s husband, Oscar Heman-Ackah takes his movie Finding Messiah to the next level by casting Nollywood legends Pete Edochie, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, and Alex Usifo in this movie. The plot remains a mystery for now, but the film’s location is said to be in the fictional Republic of Zambay.

  5. Oloture (the series)

Taking the world back to 2019, Ebonylife Productions brings Oloture back to our screens in the format of a TV series. The series is expected to drop on Netflix sometime in 2024. Good news, Sharon Ooja, Buccii Franklin and Stan Nze reprise their roles in the series along with new casts.

  6. I Do Not Come To You By Chance

Produced by the incredible Genevieve Nnaji, I Do Not Come To You By Chance has garnered quite the publicity and audience, especially during the AFRIFF 2023. The Nollywood film will hit the big screens in 2024, starring Beverly Osu, Sambasa Nzeribe, Paul Nnadiekwe, Jennifer Eliogu and more, in the film.

  7. Onyegwu

Uche Jombo scores again with Onyegwu, a sports drama to be released in 2024. The Nollywood movie debuted at the AFRIFF 2023 and centres on Zubby Michael, who plays the role of a spiritual footballer who searches for glory. It stars Nancy Isime, Lateef Adedimeji, Chioma Akpotha and several more.

  8. Anikulapo: Rise of the Sceptre

The legendary Kunle Afolayan teased a BTS image of this four-part series in 2023, and though it will be released on the global streaming platform Netflix, much detail about the TV series is yet to be known. It features comedian Layi Wasabi, Gabriel Afolayan, Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi and many more.

Nollywood Films Coming To Your Screen In 2024 So Far » YNaija


We don’t know what the storyline is just yet, but the teaser features 【32†Small Talk†www.nollywire.com】 actor, Taye Arimoro, cosplaying as a ghost in a magic mirror. Casa de Novia is heading straight to Prime Video, starring Lilian Esoro, Efe Irele and Tope Tedela, among others.

“Oloture” series

Ebonylife has revisited its critically acclaimed 2019 drama, Oloture, for a series set to drop on Netflix sometime this year. Post production is ongoing, and some familiar faces make a return to the series. Sharon Ooja reprises her role as Ehi (an undercover journalist), while Bucci Franklin and Stan Nze join as new cast members. 

“A Better Man”

Nollywood will have its fair share of sappy romance this year, and Uche Jombo is championing this. The Nollywood actress and her production house, Uche Jombo Studios, are heading to the big screen with A Better Man

, featuring Daniel Etim Effiong, Elvina Ibru, Tana Adelana and Tina Mba, among others. According to Jombo, the romantic drama “tells the story of Ogechi and Dayo in a stranger-than-fiction romantic whirlwind”. Hopefully, the release will be in time for Valentine’s Day. 

“Finding Messiah”

Kemi Adetiba has been more than vocal about her husband, Oscar Heman-Ackah’s directorial debut, Finding Messiah. So far, we’ve seen an otherworldly set, costumes similar to the ones we saw in Black Panther’s Wakanda and the OGs: Pete Edochie, Alex Usifo and Taiwo Ajai-Lycett. The political epic is set in the fictional Republic of Zambay. 

Principal photography wrapped in December but major details about its plot and release are still unknown. 

“I Do Not Come To You By Chance”

It’s no longer news that Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani’s award-winning 2009 debut book, “I Do Come To You By Chance” has been made into a movie, and the iconic Genevieve Nnaji executive produced it. AFRIFF 2023 attendees have already got a taste of what the Ishaya Bako-directed title offers, but the rest of us will have to find out when it comes to cinemas this year. Paul Nnadiekwe, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nzeribe and Beverly Osu are the major stars in the cast.

“Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre”

Kunle Afolayan 【33†wrapped up filming†kaphubnews.com】 for this four-part series in 2023 and teased fans with BTS photos of what will be a spin-off of the acclaimed Nollywood epic, Anikulapo. The series will premiere on Netflix. New cast members Layi Wasabi and Gabriel Afolayan will join Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, among others.

“Onyegwu”

Uche Jombo means business with her filmmaking in 2024. Premiering this sports drama at AFRIFF 2023, she’s set to release it later this year. Zubby Michael plays the lead character, Alex, who goes spiritual to reclaim his spot in the world of football. Chioma Akpotha, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, Nancy Isime and Lateef Adedimeji, also feature in the movie.

6 Anticipated Nollywood Films Of 2024


Initially, the film had a limited theatrical run at Silverbird Galleria in September 2023 and is scheduled for an official premiere in 2024. It earned accolades at AFRIFF 2023, winning Best Screenplay for Tunde Babalola and Best African Film.

## 5\. 【57†’77: The Festac Conspiracy 】

‘【57†77】, directed by Izu Ojukwu, serves as a sequel to the 2016 historical thriller ’76. Set during the 1977 FESTAC event, the film features Ramsey Nouah and Rita Dominic reprising their roles from ’76. Nouah, now an aggrieved serviceman, is invited to join a cause aiming to disrupt the political order of the continent. 

Ibinabo Fiberesima and Daniel K. Daniel also return to their ’76 roles. Soibifaa Dokubo joins the cast as the Leader of the Free Africa Movement, and Seun Kuti plays his famous father, Fela Kuti.

## 6\. 【58†This Is Lagos 】

Originally set for a December 2023 theatrical release, a new release date is yet to be announced, but we know it will be released in 2024. In 【58†This is Lagos】, we follow Stevo, played by Gabriel Afolayan, a young man with an insatiable hunger for the limelight in a city where everyone wears a mask of some kind. Directed by Kenneth Gyang, the film also features a star-studded ensemble cast, including Ikechukwu Onunaku, Rahama Sadau, Kate Henshaw, Enyinna Nwigwe, Sani Muazu, David Jones David, Gregory Ojefua, Mike Afolarin, Jibrin Homsuk with a special appearance by the music sensation Jesse Jagz and introducing Laura Pepple. 

## 7\. 【59†I Do Not Come To You By Chance】

Directed by Ishaya Bako, the adaptation of Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani‘s novel was screened at AFRIFF 2023. The film revolves around a struggling Nigerian graduate (played by Paul Nnadiekwe) entangled in his uncle’s fraudulent email scam. 

Genevieve Nnaji, serving as executive producer, has heightened anticipation among her fans for this project. Co-written by Chika Anadu and Ishaya Bako, the cast includes Blossom Chukwujekwu, Jennifer Eliogu, Sambasa Nzeribe, Beverly Osu, and Emeka Nwagbaraocha. 【59†I Do Not Come To You By Chance 】made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023.

## 8\. 【60†Over The Bridge】

Tolu Ajayi’s debut feature film, 【60†Over The Bridge】, stars Ozzy Agu, Segilola Ogidan, Deyemi Okalanwon, Chimezie Imo, and Paul Adams. The fantasy drama centers on Folarin (portrayed by Agu), an accomplished investment banker with a seemingly perfect life. 

However, when a high-profile government project managed by him goes wrong, he begins questioning his beliefs. After a UK world premiere and an African premiere at AFRIFF in 2023, the film is anticipated for release later this year.

## 9\. Untitled Project By Kunle Afolayan 

Kunle Afolayan is set to unveil his next project, an untitled supernatural thriller by KAP Motion Pictures. While plot details remain scarce, the film, expected to hit screens in 2024, sees Afolayan back together with Jimmy Jean-Louis, known for his role in Citation. 

The cast also includes Bolaji Ogunmola, Olarotimi Fakunle, Sharon Ooja, Muyiwa Ademola, Tina Mba, Ekpenyong Bassey Inyang amongst others.

## 10\. A Green Fever 

Directed by Taiwo Egunjobi, A Green Fever is an 80s crime drama set in Ibadan. Kunmi (Temi Fosudo), desperate after his daughter Ireti (Darasimi Nadi) suffers a stroke during a curfew road trip, seeks refuge in a stranger’s home (Ruby Okezie). Colonel Bashiru’s (Deyemi Okanlawon) arrival intensifies the night’s tension. 

Produced by Emiola Fagbenle and also starring William Benson, the Nemsia Films feature film had its world premiere at AFRIFF in 2023. Expected to
